Tie Rod is another story of provincial life in NZ. Bernie fails to take a turn in the practice rounds of the Onslow Stree races for Classic Cars. He leaps the Armco, hits a power pole and wipes out two drug dealers in the process. A chain reaction blows up a drug lab and ruins Inspector Dowrick's Friday afternoon tryst. Bernie doesn't go easily and plagues all concerned from his car's burial site on the deviation just outside Wellington. A story for truckers, sports nuts and  especially for those who cannot abide the trucking police in NZ. The url is
